Progression and Graduation

The progression committee of the BPI in consultation with course faculty, supervisors, and the student’s Progression Advisor determine the student’s course through the phases of the curriculum. Adequate fulfillment of class requirements, readiness to take on cases, and the progress of satisfactory clinical work all determine the sequence and timing of aspects of an individual candidate’s training.

Upon completing satisfactorily the required work of the curriculum, including the supervised clinical work, students may request to be considered for graduation. If, in the opinion of the Education Committee, they have demonstrated personal and professional maturity and have acquired a fundamental understanding of psychoanalytic theory and method, they may be approved to graduate. Since the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute is a New Training Facility of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Institute’s graduates are eligible to apply for regular membership in the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute and other affiliate societies of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
